The mercurial dragon Volant reflects the constellations in his wings: Draco, Ursa Minor, and... a visitor?

Paid commission portrait. Countless hours of work spread across eight months. Yes, this is what I've been so busy with the past few months, as this is an unusually complex painting! Reference included star maps. Painted entirely in Adobe Photoshop LE, using a Wacom pen tablet.

Excellent job :thumbsup: i really like the work made on light and reflections :D I would just have made it a little bit more contrasted, i think it would have increse the metal aspect of the dragon ;)

Amazing! The reflections of everything are just gorgeous. And the stars are so thick. How cool. Who's the little elf-person reflected in his right wing?

I love the spectacles. Gives a nice feel to the picture and the dragon himself.

Increasing the contrast on each reflection tended to make his body look like it was split into pieces. It was originally like that, and didn't make any visual sense, so I dulled it down.

The person reflected in Volant's right wing is the person who commissioned the painting for him. I thought it would be nice to give him a cameo. :)
